Ardanoush (Rosemary) Thomas left Trent Polytechnic in 1979 with a BA in Fine Arts. She went on to serve an apprenticeship as a Fine Art restorer at the London studio of Stavros Mihalarias specialising in religious panel paintings, collaborating variously with both the British Museum and Christies Auction house. She was thus privileged to find herself part of a team working on some of
the finest examples of Byzantine Art. In 1983 she moved to Athens where she was responsible for overseeing the establishment of the The Stavros Mihalarias Conservation Studios, Athens.
Since 1992, Ardanoush has been developing her own paintings and has exhibited regularly. She has held shows at the Market House, Southwold; Varese, Italy; Gallery Nott, Hampstead and the Atrium Gallery, Queensway, as well as participating in the annual Cable Street Open Studios events.
She commenced her series, METROPOLIS, inspired by the Docklands environment where she lived and worked from 1997 until 2004, in mid 2000.
Since 2005 Ardanoush has been involved in various projects involving house renovations in London and Greece. This, she reasons, was a creative process with different rewards, and where her instinct for colour found new outlets.
In 2010 she set up her new studio in the Peloponese and has been working on her new project 'MARINABILIA'.
'MARINABILIA' will be on show at Gallery 27, 27 Cork Street, London W1, from Monday 28th November through to Saturday December 3rd 2011 from 10am to 6pm daily.'
